From 4 to 7 February 2025, Thomas Hampson led the first professional master class in the Arabian hemisphere for young, international opera singers. Hand-picked artists Giulio Putrino (Italy), Livia Louis-Joseph Dogué (France) and Razaviasfali Seyedahforooz (Iran) were joined by five local singers chosen by artistic director Umberto Fanni, including highly promising Arab talents in alignment with the Omani Ministry of Culture’s aim to highlight the young local generation. The four-day-master class with 8 hours of lessons each offered great inspiration and opportunity for artistic growth. At the end, all singers had the chance of showcasing their talent in a small concert open to the public. Mr. Hampson’s brilliant master class was received with great enthusiasm by all participants. Talks of resuming these sessions with the US-American star baritone in March 2026 are currently being held.
On 9 February, Thomas Hampson topped off his visit by a sold-out concert featuring classical Arabian music as well as arias by Mozart, Verdi, Bizet and Smetana with the Royal Opera House’s choir and orchestra.
