Vienna Philharmonic at the 18th Aspendos Festival

Barenboim_AspendosThe first concert visit at the 2000 year-old ancient Roman theatre of Aspendos was a special highlight for the Vienna Philharmonic, Maestro Zubin Mehta and Maestro Daniel Barenboim. The venue´s unique atmosphere and acoustics had been emphasized in the run-up to the event with the response of both Maestri and musicians being unanimously ecstatic. Stravinsky´s Symphony in Three Movements, Beethoven´s piano concerto No. 3 in c-minor and Don Quixote by Richard Strauss poured out into the night delighting an enraptured audience which shared the musicians´ enthusiasm and greeted them with standing ovations. The concert was also broadcast live on TV reaching millions of music lovers in Turkey at home.
